Definition of School Readiness:

School Readiness means that children are prepared for school, families are equipped to support their child’s learning, and schools are ready to welcome and support every child.

Whether a child participates in a center-based program, home-based care, Head Start, or other community early learning experiences, these opportunities build a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

The transition to kindergarten is an exciting milestone, but it can also bring challenges. EPEL partners with the school district and child care programs to ensure families have the information and support they need for a smooth and successful transition. When transitions go well, children are more likely to thrive throughout their school journey.

Ready for Kindergarten: Explore the resources below to ensure a smooth and successful start.

Coming to school ready for Kindergarten makes the transition easier on your child. Children must be 5 years old by September 1st to start Kindergarten in the Fall of 2025.
