Game Changer Win for Greater Elgin’s Children

We are honored to share that The Basics of Greater Elgin has been named the “Game Changer Project” at this year’s Elgin Image Awards!

The real winners are Greater Elgin’s youngest children. They are the reason for this work and the true measure of its success. Every parent who learns a new way to talk, sing, or play with their baby, and every child who arrives at school ready to learn, is what this award celebrates.

The Basics is the community and family engagement thread of EPEL (Enriching Partnerships for Early Learning). Our message is simple: learning starts at birth, in the home, and in the community. Parents are their child’s first and best teacher, and children learn through everyday moments wherever they are.

The first five years of life are when critical brain growth is happening. We have one shot, the first 2,000 days, to get this right, and we can’t do it alone.

Join us. Sign up for our FREE Basics texting program for families with children birth to age four, or learn how your organization can help bring The Basics to every place families wait, play, or visit.

Thank you to the Elgin Image Awards and to every partner who shows up for Greater Elgin’s children and families.
